The 1st annual Juneteenth celebration will be hosted in the heart of Franklin city, showcasing the rich cultural events that honor history. Once part of Southampton County, the organizers note that Franklin is home to two of the most famous enslaved individuals in American history, Nat Turner and Dred Scott. Additionally, community sponsorships will support this important celebration, which is located 40 miles west of Norfolk and nine miles north of the North Carolina border.
